Is Bachchan family interested to buy stakes in Rajasthan Royals?

A few days ago, IPL franchise Rajasthan Royals ahead of the IPL 2019 is looking to sell its fifty percent franchise stakes in a bid to boost financial power. The popular Bachchan family has shown interest in buying the stakes in Rajasthan Royals.

Bachchan family earlier approached the Chennai Super Kings before approaching the owners of the Rajasthan Royals. They are now in talks with co-owner of the Rajasthan Royals franchise Manoj Badale.

Chennai Super Kings is the most successful IPL team along with Mumbai Indians. They have won the IPL title for the three times. On the other hand, Jaipur based IPL franchise Rajasthan Royals were the winner of the inaugural IPL season 2008.

Both the franchises, CSK and RR were suspended by the supreme court appointed Justice Lodha committee for two-years i.e. 2016 and 2017. They both came back in the year 2018 and Chennai Super Kings lifted its third IPL title.

The teams were suspended due to the involvement of its owners in the 2013 spot-fixing and betting scandal. Along with the team, owners of both the teams were also banned for life.

Earlier, some stakes of IPL franchise Rajasthan Royals are owned by Bollywood celebrity Shilpa Shetty and her husband Raj Kundra. Now, it seems that Abhishek Bachchan wants to own stakes in IPL franchise as well.

Abhishek Bachchan already holds stakes in the Indian Super League franchise Chennaiyin FC and also owns some part of the Jaipur Pink Panthers franchise of the Pro Kabaddi League.

Also, CEO of AB Corp Ramesh Pulapaka said, "Yes, Abhishek (Bachchan) met Manoj Badale in London some time ago,” There are a lot of big business houses are in the race to buy stakes in Rajasthan Royals. It will be interesting to see who will but the stake.
