Zimbabwean cricketer Alexander Graeme Cremer was the former captain of Zimbabwe National Cricket Team has put his cricketing career on hold due to his family commitments. Cremer is now relocated from Harare to Dubai to join his wife who is a pilot.
The 32-year old has said that he wanted to take a break from cricket to be with his family. He said, "With my wife always away flying, I now have a full-time job looking after the kids and settling them into this new environment,".
He further said, "I am hoping this may only be temporary, so I may be able to commute back and forth to Zimbabwe, but who knows what the future holds ... that's all I can say at this stage. But while I am away, I wish Zimbabwe Cricket all the very best in what's to come, and I hope to join the boys again in the future."
The leg-spinner has played 19 Tests taking 57 wickets, 96 One-Day Internationals taking 119 wickets and 29 Twenty20 internationals taking 35 wickets. This is the second time in the last five years that Cremer has taken a break from international cricket. Cremer has missed the recent series against South Africa National Cricket Team.
He has also missed series against Bangladesh National Cricket Team due to his knee surgery. After missing these tours, he came back in December in a Pro50 Championship match played in Kwekwe. He contributed to his Rhinos franchise to win over Mountaineers.
Givemore Makoni who is the Managing Director of Zimbabwe Cricket said, "Your wickets, numbers and everything you have contributed to our game speak for themselves and we as ZC are proud of you,"
Makoni further said that his services will be missed greatly and they hope to see him in the team again. He said, “We hope to have you in our national colours again soon.” He sent best wishes to him and his family.
